Privacy Policy

ReviewReply is a Chrome extension that helps a business owner draft replies to customer reviews. This policy explains exactly what the extension handles.
What we collect
Almost nothing. ReviewReply has no accounts, no sign-in, and no analytics or tracking. We do not collect your name, location, browsing history, or the contents of pages you visit. The one exception is the waiting list, below: if you choose to give us an email address, we keep it.
What is sent to our server
When you press Generate, and only then, the extension sends the following to our API so a reply can be written:
- the review text you pasted or highlighted
- the star rating, business type, business name and tone you selected
- the reviewer’s first name, if the extension picked it up from the page or you typed it in — so the reply can address them by name
- any notes you typed into the “owner notes” field
That request is passed to Anthropic’s API to generate the reply, and the reply is returned to your browser. We do not store the review text or the generated replies on our servers, and we do not use them to train any model. Your IP address is used transiently for rate limiting and is not retained in a profile.
What stays on your device
Your settings (business type, business name, preferred tone, API address) and your monthly reply count are stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. They never leave your device and are removed when you uninstall the extension.
The waiting list
If you enter your email address to hear about the Pro plan, we store that address, the date you gave it, and which page you came from. It is used for one thing: to email you when Pro launches. We do not send a newsletter, we do not sell or share the list, and we do not add you to anything else.
Ask us at any time and we will delete your address — no questions and no need to explain why.
Permissions and why they exist
- activeTab / scripting — reads the review text you have highlighted, only at the moment you click “Use selected text” or the right-click menu item.
- sidePanel — displays the extension’s panel.
- storage — saves your settings on your device.
- contextMenus — adds the right-click “Reply to this review” item.
The extension reads page content only on Google review pages, and only for text you have selected. It never reads a page on its own.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data. The only third party involved is Anthropic, which processes the review text to generate the reply.
Children
ReviewReply is a business tool and is not directed at anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change and the updated version will appear at this URL.
